Vehicles ECU
Through the use of the latest technological advances and highly qualified staff, we are able to plug directly into your vehicle’s ECU to read the data stored there. This data allows us to determine where any potential faults may lie.
Embedded in a vehicle’s electrical system or subsystem is an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), or ECU for short.
There is no single car computer; rather, there are multiple ones. Sometimes one assembly includes several of the individual control modules (engine and transmission happen to be on the PCM).
ECUs in modern motor vehicles can have up to 80 lines and are becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. Managing the increasing complexity and number of electronic control units in cars has become a key challenge for car repair garages, which require the diagnostic tools of a dealer.
Car warning lights: what do they mean?
You are most likely to encounter red and orange warning lights out of 5 available colours.
A red warning light means there is a serious problem that needs immediate attention or may cause significant damage to your car. If you are able to do so, stop as soon as possible.
A warning light in orange is just that—a warning—and should be investigated as soon as possible.
Are warning lights safe to drive with?
Depending on the situation, you should stop driving as soon as possible if the dashboard shows a red warning light. A red warning is a severe fault that requires immediate attention. If the fault is amber or any other colour, you should continue to drive, but you should examine it as soon as possible.
Is your Engine Light on or Flashing?
You should stop in a safe place and call us.
